Information

Carignan, planted in 1913 in the northeast-facing single vineyard Las Trabasseres in the Piedmont Pyrénées region on pure slate soil, fermented spontaneously and aged in used oak.

Colour

Crimson with violet reflections

Nose

Previously, the wine was known by its vineyard name, Las Trabasseres. Now it is called Isabal. The wine from 110-year-old vines has an intense and ripe, clear and fresh aroma. It is reminiscent of blackberries and mulberries, sour cherries, and a hint of cassis combined with garrigue, fermented cardamom, and dark tobacco leaves. Added to this are some mint and dark stone.

Palate

On the palate, the Carignan is fresh, juicy, and intense, with a clear expression of dark, yet crisp, juicy fruit, as well as notes of stone, garrigue, and fine wood. The ancient, deep-rooted vines bring a vibrant slate minerality to the palate, accompanied by lively acidity. The wine has depth, yet remains weightless, delicate, and refined, yet blessed with extract and a silky tannin texture, as well as an ethereal minty overtone.
