Wine Information

Alquimia. is a vin de voile, meaning it was aged oxidatively, as the barrels were not refilled after aging, allowing a layer of flor to form. It is a cuvée of whole-bunch Grenache Gris and Macabeu, aged in used barriques and tonneaux from 2021 and 2022.

Nose

The Alquimia. initially benefits considerably from air. So, off it goes into the carafe. This quickly dissipates the ester notes that are present at the beginning. This reveals a highly interesting and attractive wine, with aromas reminiscent of salted almonds and walnuts, candied orange peel, crumbly apples, biscuits, white miso, and pine resin.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is dry, stimulating, and lively, with both salty and fruity aromas. There are predominant notes of hazelnuts, caramelized apples, vanilla, and honey, without the wine coming across as ponderous or heavy. On the contrary: the acidity provided by the slate terroir lends the wine a subtle freshness and a full, velvety texture. This is an oxidative white wine of great elegance.
