Rémi Jobard is a recognized new schooler in Meursault. For around 30 years, he has used exclusively organic fertilization, and in 2008, he obtained organic certification. Jobard’s guiding principle is the chalky soils of Meursault, which he seeks to bring out through careful aging. Instead of small 228-liter barriques, Jobard uses 600-liter Stockinger barrels. The wood isn’t used for its own sake, but rather for the slow oxygen exchange. This aging results in crystalline, polished wines with deep minerality and a delicate texture. Jobard has only recently begun vinifying Aligoté himself. Although his father bought the Aligoté vineyards, he always sold the grapes to a négociant. The Aligoté from the En Buzigny plot comes from the oldest vineyards on the estate, aged between 50 and 70 years.

Colour

Light straw yellow with green reflections.

Nose

A kaleidoscope of fruits, blossoms, and aromas oscillate, shimmering like a chameleon, against a constantly changing backdrop. Apple blossoms and white lilac gleefully flex from the calyx, hinting at cheeky fruits like green apricots and lychees, and peach on the phenolic flank with a hint of peel and a slightly tart nature. Multi-layered and complex with distinct notes of wet chalk and wet rock.

Palate

The 2022 En Buzigny Bourgogne Aligoté Vieilles Vignes by Rémi Jobard delivers on the palate what the nose promises. Robust, firm, and powerful, it pushes forward with rich concentration and a tart appearance, until its fine, long, curved acidity sparkles on the palate. Crystalline and crystal-clear, it is accelerated by delicately salty minerality and a powdery, fine grip. Clearly one of the six-cylinder Aligotés.
