Product description for Pranzegg Caroline 2021 The proportions of the varieties used in the Cuvée Caroline vary from year to year and come from a mixed white blend consisting of Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Manzoni Bianco. The grapes grow at a good 400 meters above sea level, were harvested by hand, then mashed together, and rested on their skins for six days with a proportion of around 60% vines. After racking, the Caroline was placed in barrels, where it rested on the full lees for a year before being placed in concrete for a further eleven months before the new harvest.

Straw yellow with light orange reflections and a satin-matt shimmer.

Nose

The nose of the 2021 Caroline von Pranzegg oscillates between stubborn refusal and reductive, nutty notes, so pour it into the carafe—upside down. As the air increases, she becomes tentatively more confiding, speaking softly but firmly of herbal tea, chamomile, and hay flowers. She speaks of yellow, crumbly apple, white pepper, lemon blossoms, orange zest, and green mandarins. A wine that reveals itself in constant change in the large glass.

Palate

On the palate, it absorbs the aromas of the nose and embeds them in a fluffy, soft bed of tannins, shaken up powdery and fluffy, just like Mother Holle. The silky texture coats the entire mouth, creating a comforting, then ethereally cool aftertaste. The acidity is mild, yet driving, building a gently pulsating bass on the palate. All that remains of the fruit are the skins, the kernels, the extract of its aromatic essence. Caroline oscillates on the palate between structure, aromatics, and texture, illustrating its multifaceted nature.
