The 2021 Riesling Mittelheimer Sankt Nikolaus Grosses Gewächs is a site as close as 50 meters distance from the Rhine, so there is little diurnal swing. The soil is fine, almost powdery, with relatively little stone in the topsoil, dominated by loess. The nose offers a trace of pear skin and suggests richness. The palate is done in a creamy, rich yet contoured and defined fashion. This is concentrated, generous yet streamlined, ringing with lemon and brightness, tingling with pith and zest, yet in its way, full-bodied and lasting. The 2021 shows a beautiful, bone-dry finish.
