Product description for Peter Jakob Kühn Riesling Lenchen Kabinett VDP. Grosse Lage 2023 (bio)
Info
This Riesling Kabinett comes from the VDP.Große Lage Oestricher Lenchen vineyard. The part of the vineyard dedicated to this wine faces west with a gradient of 12-15%. The plot is located directly behind the winery at an altitude of 120-170 meters. The soil is fertile, gravelly loess interspersed with iron-rich quartzites and clay marl. This area was therefore formerly known as Eiserberg (Eiserberg). The Lenchen stream moves air masses, causing early morning fog in the fall. Therefore, compared to others on the estate, this plot is perfectly suited for the development of botrytis and the residual-sweet to noble-sweet wines. The analysis shows 28.4g/l of residual sugar and a robust 8.4g/l of acidity. Thus, relatively moderate sugar levels and very high acidity. This is also noticeable in the high drinking appeal and the lean structure.
Colour
Clear straw yellow with light greenish inclusions
Nose
Despite its very reserved nature, the nose is immediately very charming and appealing. The fruit seems surprisingly hesitant. Rather restrained and bright. The fruit opens up in the form of Meyer lemon, especially its zest, lime, and a touch of lemon juice. Nashi pear and vineyard peach subtly soften this and, alongside acidic aromas, add a touch of juicy fruit sweetness. Its herbal side reveals itself moist and light, reminiscent of what it felt like directly after being cut in the garden. I would like to highlight chervil, lemon balm, thyme, and sage. A nettle extract and Sencha tea provide enormous aromatic depth. Overall, the Kabinett wine appears stony, brilliant, and clear.
Palate
Its slim 9.5% alcohol by volume is convincing on the palate. Slender and delicate in equal measure. Its residual sweetness is clearly evident, yet always juicy and stimulating. It conveys a feeling of well-being and generosity. Its structure is appealing. The acidity is quite moderate, but also an asset. This creates a pleasant contrast between fruit and sweetness without overpowering the wine. Stimulating and stimulating.
