Chardonnay blend made from 50% 2018 and 50% réserve perpetuelle 2013–2017. The vines used in 2018 are located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, halfway up the vineyard (mi-coteau). Those from the perpetual vineyard come from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Chouilly, and Cramant. The base wine was aged in oak. It was bottled in July 2019 and disgorged in June 2023 with 2 grams of dosage as an Extra Brut.

Colour

Intense straw yellow with fine mousse.

Nose

This champagne opens with delicate and elegant notes. It is quite obviously a Blanc de Blancs, playing with bright, yellow aromas of citrus fruits, some stone and pome fruit, and combining these with notes of almond biscuit, lemon curd, and crushed oyster shells.

Palate

On the palate, L’ambitieuse is just as ambitious and delivers on its promise of elegance and nobility. The aged wine from the solera lends the Grand Cru depth and substance, ripe brioche notes, and yellow tones. The 2018 vintage provides punch and freshness, juice and acidity. The blend is skillfully balanced, sensual, deep, and lively. A great pleasure, supported not only by fruit and minerality but also by a subtle nuttiness and a hint of wood. Silky, sensual, creamy, with a very delicate sweetness, it glides effortlessly but full of freshness across the palate.
