Description
The Domaine des Orchis is the vineyard of Philippe Héritier. Originally an agricultural engineer, Philippe Héritier advised numerous winegrowers in the Savoie, including Michel Grisard, whose biodynamic approach inspired him. In 2006, he changed sides and became a winemaker himself. He had discovered some excellent terroirs for himself around the Cru Frangy northwest of Anne-cy and planted the vineyards with a selection massale by Michel Grisard and Charles Trosset, concentrating on Altesse (Roussette) and Mondeuse. The vineyards are situated at around 400 metres, much further north and cooler than those of most other Savoie winemakers. The wines are almost always aged for two winters in old barrels and only bottled after 18 months. Besides being a winemaker, he also continues the work of his father Joseph. He breeds snails and sells them to the best restaurants in France.
