Product description for Ökonomierat Rebholz Weisser Burgunder “Im Sonnenschein” GG 2023 (bio)
Wine Information
Most of the vineyards on the edge of the Haardt, at the transition from the Rhine plain to the Palatinate Forest, face east. Im Sonnenschein, however, is located on the Siebeldinger summer side of the Queichtal valley, which has a southerly exposure. The vineyard lies at an elevation of 160 to 250 meters and has a slope of 5 to 20%. This approximately 40-year-old Pinot Blanc, facing southwest, grows on Triassic shell limestone soil in the purest part of the vineyard. After slow pressing and spontaneous fermentation, the wine was matured in stainless steel.
Colour
Medium straw yellow with a slight green hue
Nose
The nose of the Im Sonnenschein Pinot Blanc is as pure as the soil: almost pure shell limestone, translated into herbs, lemon peel and lemon seeds, crushed rock, a hint of apple and greengage.
Palate
On the palate, the Großes Gewächs is just as pure aromatically, yet this bright, clear, almost cool fruit is combined with a silky texture that makes this Weißburgunder exceptionally charming. It’s a Weißburgunder GG that’s rarely found in Germany, because the vine wood dispenses with the wood that is often so prominent, and this wine inherently provides depth, drama, and complexity. It’s a wine with clear, deep fruit, a fine, penetrating acidity, a hint of phenol, the finest extract sweetness and salt, with grip and great length. Outstanding!

Wine Advocate
Score: 94+
Vinified in stainless steel and amphorae until early July, the 2023 Im Sonnenschein Weisser Burgunder GG is a clear, intense and flinty Pinot Blanc with floral as well as calcareous notes. Playful, finessed and almost filigreed on the palate, this is a dense and intense, very elegant and textured Pinot with delicate tannins and a good, elegant and finely grippy finish. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2025.
