Info

The soil in the Bomboliero parcel varies greatly. Both white and brown areas can be found here. Beneath the only 25cm layer of sand lies a layer of limestone rock. Depending on whether the clay or sand mixes better with the lime, the layer brings the colour to the surface. The vines are only 25 years old. The 2022 harvest took place here in the first ten days of October. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks with natural yeasts. The must remains in contact with the must for a full 20 days – including during fermentation. The wines then age for 20 months in oval 20hl cement tanks.

Colour

Bright cherry red with light violet reflections.

Nose

Intense and dark. Fruity and spicy. Its protagonists are morello cherries, cassis, blackberries, and sweet cherries. It reveals its wild, animalistic side through warm leather, reduction, a touch of horse saddle, and a hint of licorice. Numerous spicy influences give it a distinctly spicy feel. These include coriander seeds and pea shoots, fennel, sage, and oregano. Black and red pepper sit alongside juniper and allspice. It delicately transports us mentally to the forest through undergrowth, moss, and conifer bark. Finally, it seduces us with a sparingly grated dark chocolate.

Palate

It builds up enormously on the palate. Its acidity thrives on astringency and high animation. This brings us back to memories of Pinot Noir. It is always light on its feet and enormously elegant. For me, this reveals a hint of dried fruit and rum raisin alongside plenty of tart morello cherries. Magnificent. Silky and delicate, it’s completely tannin-free. This is both incredibly stimulating and challenging, if you let yourself be drawn in. Light floral notes reveal blue and dark blossoms.
