Roland Velich owns small, old Grüner Veltliner vineyards in Sankt Georgen near Eisenstadt. Spontaneously fermented and aged in 500-liter barrels. Unfined and minimally filtered.

Colour

Brilliant, light golden yellow with delicate green reflections.

Nose

The 2023 Grüner Veltliner Sankt Georgen presents itself reductively and, due to its youth, still somewhat closed. A lively decanting opens up this complex wine, and then it all begins. Bright fruit of quince, pear, and yellow apple blend with light blossoms and subtle herbal notes. Distinct limestone notes perfectly frame this beautiful, Burgundian construct.

Palate

On the tongue, this cult wine captivates with its floating elegance, chalky notes, and bright, juicy fruit on the nose. Its fine phenolics and acidity whet the appetite, and the long finish indicates excellent aging potential. A wine that is a delight on its own and evokes a cuisine that boasts the same finesse and elegance as the wine itself.
