The vines are planted on red sandstone, and red clay can be found in the subsoil after just 40 cm. The Riesling from the Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad is matured in stainless steel tanks. It ferments spontaneously. Malolactic fermentation is systematically prevented. With a small amount of sulphur added, the wine is bottled after a long period of aging on the full lees.

Bright straw yellow with green reflections

Nose

The nose of the Ruppertsberg Reiterpfad clearly reveals its grape variety and Palatinate origins. With a clear, brilliant style, it still fluctuates restlessly between yellow fruit and green, herbal freshness with vegetal accents. Mirabelle plum, apricot, pear, and lemon on the one hand. Contrasting notes are eucalyptus, mint, lemongrass, and lemon balm. Apple, almond, and acacia blossoms also fill the air. A hint of fennel and artichoke sets accents in an honest and tart way. Clove, cinnamon, and allspice provide an unusual but very harmonious spice.

Palate

From the first sip, it underscores the impressions of origin and grape variety. It appears robust, distinctive, and structured. At the same time, it is consistently dry-vinified. It reveals its subsoil and the playful nature of the Rieslings from the Bunter sandstone of the Mittelhaardt. The fruit and spice of the nose reappear one-to-one. Its fine, tart character is very beneficial here and will also play a key role as it ages. The acidity still hits quite hard against its otherwise sparse structure, so not much can be buffered.
