Information about the wine

In the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the Armenier family owns a total of 13 plots with different soil types, such as the famous rolled pebbles on clayey subsoil, which retains water well, but also reddish sandstone soils and colluvial sediments, as well as limestone soils from the Cretaceous period, which give the wine a great deal of excitement. Grenache Noir dominates by far, complemented by some Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, which varies from one plot to another and also according to the grape variety. The selected grapes are destemmed, crushed, and cooled. They are then left in the tank until the natural yeasts take effect. Sophie now ensures that temperatures do not rise too much. Initially, extraction takes place by daily pumping over. The maceration period lasts four to five weeks. The wine is aged for 18 months in concrete tanks, supplemented by a few foudres and older 350-liter barrels.

Colour

Deep, still young dark red with a ruby rim.

Nose

Enormous density: black figs, wild blackberries, sweet raspberries, blood oranges with notes of violets, Provençal herbs, fresh leather, pepper, and berries in alcohol. It opens up increasingly with air in the glass, giving an impression of great depth and purity.

Palate

Immediately filling the mouth with a velvety texture, great body, and impressive concentration, yet without any aggressiveness or heaviness. Sweet, opulent red berry fruit carpets the palate. Ripe, noble, encased tannins with a hint of cocoa, fine-grained structure, and minerality with great dynamism and persistence. Excellent aging potential.
