Nose
The 2017 Le Mont Moelleux 1ère Trie is a magnificent wine, and you notice it from the very first second. The fruit was harvested about a month earlier than usual, so there was little botrytis development. The wine is bursting with ripe pome fruit and some stone fruit, which becomes increasingly dominant with exposure to air. Ginger can be found here, as well as bitter oranges, a touch of honey, salted almonds, nougat, and pickled garden herbs. All of this is in flux, changing; for the wine leads a life of its own and continually reveals new facets.
Palate
The remarkable precision that runs through the entire vintage reaches its peak in this wine. The 65 grams of sweetness seem very lively and harmonious in the overall structure; the yellow fruit is ripe yet delicate. The phenolics provide substance, the texture is viscous, the acidity is lively, absolutely precise, and fine, penetrating and holding everything in suspense. The array of apricots and quinces, prunes and kumquats, blend with spices and salty notes to create a magnificent, long finish. All of this, of course, is just the beginning of a development that can be followed over the decades and will become increasingly impressive.

Wine Advocate
Score: 93
The Manincor 2020 Alto Adige Pinot Nero Mason di Mason (a biodynamic and organic wine) delivers varietal tones of pressed violet, candied orange and sweet watermelon. You also get a pronounced savory quality with tobacco leaf, steeped tea, ozone, tar and wet asphalt. The wine has a pretty, lean-bodied approach with fine tannins. 4,100 bottles were made.

The 2020 Mason di Mason entices with depths of foreign spice, cedar box, curry leaf, crushed rocks and dried black cherries. This is pure class, silky and supple, with a core of mineral-drenched red fruits and brisk acidity that maintains energy throughout. The 2020 finishes with cheek puckering concentration and is remarkably long, reverberating with blood orange and tart raspberry hints. This could use a short stay in the cellar to flesh out a bit. The Mason di Mason is Manincor’s Cru within a Cru Pinot Noir, hailing from the oldest vines in the Mazon vineyard.
