Wine Information

This wine is a single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc from vines planted in 2010 near Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes in an organically managed vineyard characterized by clay, limestone, and some slate. After hand-harvesting – the yield was around 30 hl/ha – the whole grapes were fermented spontaneously on the skins for 15 days. The wine was then pressed and aged for several months in concrete. It was bottled without fining or filtration, only with a little sulphur added.

Colour

Light copper, significantly less cloudy than last year.

Nose

The Orange is a skin-fermented white wine with a subtle aroma of mellow apples with skins, greengage, broom, hay, and yeast. Even though it was fermented and aged in concrete, it is somewhat reminiscent of amphora aging. Warmth brings notes of acacia blossoms and honey.

Palate

On the palate, the orange-hued Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and, in keeping with its maceration time, intense with tannins and phenols. Apples and apple skins, herbs, a touch of ginger, and licorice are evident. The acidity is silky and delicate, yet also pleasantly lively and sustained.
