Product description for Maison Stephan Côte Rôtie “Les Binardes” AOC 2023 (bio)
Wine Information
A blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier from organically farmed vines selected through a mass selection and planted between 1986 and 1994 on terraced granite, quartz, and orthogneiss soils. The Binardes plot is located on the Côte Blonde, below the village of Tupin. Hand-picked, semi-carbonic maceration, gentle pressing, and 12 months of barrel aging. Bottled on the estate without fining or filtration and without the addition of sulfites.
Colour
Quite dense in the purple colour.
Nose
Les Binards is a complex, powerful, and spicy wine with plenty of dark, purple fruit of blackberries, plums, cassis, and blueberries, with notes of licorice and violets.
Palate
On the palate, the Côte Rôtie is very fresh, juicy, and lively, with plenty of purple fruit, but no wood or meaty notes. There’s some olive tapenade, and a wonderful minerality in this balanced, silky, and expressive Syrah.
