Product description for Maison Stephan Côte Rôtie “Les Binardes” AOC 2019
Info
Old Syrah vines, planted between 1902 and 2005, are complemented by 10% Viognier and Serine (synonym Durif). Grown on granite, slate, glacial sand, and gneiss. No fining and low sulfur addition before bottling.
Color
Dense purple, black at the core, almost color-dense to the rim.
Nose
The 2018 Côte Rotie “Les Binardes” has an intense aroma of wild raspberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, and elderberries. The fruit notes blend with ethereal hints of boxwood and eucalyptus. Licorice, pepper, and juniper are also present. Despite its power, its aroma already exhibits a great deal of playfulness and finesse.
Palate
Freshness and minerality spread across the palate, a beautiful, complex wine that skillfully combines sweet fruit with plenty of spice, invigorating acidity, and a salty note. The fine-grained yet distinctive tannin structure loves concentrated dark meat and game dishes. A wine that not only has excellent aging potential, but will also be remembered for a long time!
