Product description for Maison Stephan Côte Rôtie “Côteaux de Tupin” AOC 2018
Info
The wine is made from 100% Serine (synonym Durif), the vines are planted on gneiss and were planted in 1992. Bottled without filtration with minimal sulphur addition after 24 months of aging in small wooden barrels.
Colour
Black, almost solid to the rim, with purple reflections.
Nose
The 2018 Côte Rotie “Coteaux de Tupin” presents itself with abundant fruit of wild raspberries, blueberry compote, sloe, elderberry, and prune. Fine dark chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, black pepper, and clove complete its brilliant and deep aroma.
Palate
Immersing yourself in this velvet carpet reminds you of violet pastilles, then the acidity and tannins take hold, and you realize that this wine will only reveal its full beauty in a few years. Impatient tasters are advised to aerate it a few hours in advance and enjoy it from a large Burgundy glass. Wow, what a monument!
