Since the younger generation took over the domaine, founded by their paternal grandfather in 1947, in 2000, the winery has experienced a steep and steady upward trend. The numerous accolades from the international wine press impressively confirm this development. Immediately after their launch, the young Bret brothers switched to organic and biodynamic farming and have been certified organic since 2006. They recently acquired five hectares of vineyards in various locations, all of which were already certified organic. Jean-Guillaume and Jean Philipe Bret remain constantly on the ball, constantly present in the vineyard, and leave nothing to chance. Their wines are therefore characterized by absolute reliability of the highest quality. All wines undergo malolactic fermentation and are very mineral and precise.

The 2022 Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat Les Quarts Cuvée Millerandée comes from the small part of the vineyard that suffers millerandage and constitutes four or five barrels. This is a little more backward on the nose than the regular cuvée and demands more coaxing. Pear and peach skin, lanolin and light apple blossom scents unfurl in the glass. The palate is beautifully balanced with a dash of stem ginger on the entry. It is very poised, and I love the way this crescendos towards its bravura finish that lingers long in the mouth. Outstanding.
