Product description for Kühling-Gillot Qvinterra Riesling trocken 2023 (bio)
Wine Information
The VDP.GUTSWEINE are a meticulous selection of grapes grown in vineyards along the Rhine. Five different wine-growing villages and five different soil types inspired the Latin term QVINTERRA®. The estate wines are harvested by hand, rigorously selected, spontaneously fermented, aged in large, old double-barreled barrels and stainless steel tanks, and finally left “sur lie” (on the lees) well into spring.
Colour
Dense, radiant golden yellow.
Nose
Smoky and mineral, the 2023 Qvinterra Riesling opens the winery, presenting itself on the nose as earthy, pure, and powerful. Its fruit initially remains in the background; it needs oxygen to reveal itself. After decanting, it presents itself with apple, apple peel, orange zest, and even a hint of wild raspberry and cassis.
Palate
For a Gutsriesling, it’s incredibly complex, and this is also evident on the palate, which it attacks coolly and refreshingly. With plenty of punch and a brilliant finish, this wine is already a joy on its own, but when paired with earthy cuisine, it reaches its peak.

Wine Advocate
Score: 91
The 2023 Riesling Trocken Qvinterra is deep, pure and elegant on the pretty complex and saline/mineral nose. Savory and provided with fine tannins, this is a medium to full-bodied, fresh Riesling sourced from younger vines in top sites on the red slope between Nierstein and Oppenheim. This is a stunningly expressive Riesling at this price point. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.

The 2023 Riesling Qvinterra is the estate wine picked mostly in Oppenheim, with a touch of fruit from the Red Slope to add spice. The nose is flinty, but the palate comes with tingling, bright lightness and such savor. It’s suffused with a lovely touch of pithiness that lends structure to this rippling, joyful, fruity wine.
