The 2022 Karthäuserhofberg Riesling Spätlese opens precise and intense on the deep, still slightly reductive yet attractive nose that represents perfectly ripe fruit intertwined with weathered slate and saline aromas, which indicate remarkable complexity. Round, lush and generous yet also crystalline in its stimulating saline acidity, this a succulent and refined, irresistible and mouth-watering Spätlese from one of the Ruwer’s very best Riesling vineyards. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 15 23 in July 2024.

The 2022 Riesling Karthäuserhofberg Spätlese unites mint, lemon and peach on the supple nose, with a touch of honey from a little botrytis revealed with more air. The palate brings a lovely passionfruit touch to the peach and Mirabelle compote, which has delightful lemon edges. Dreamy and balanced, with wonderful lightness yet so much density. Around 50 g/L of residual sweetness stands against 8.5 g/L of acidity.
