Information about the wine

The Vinos Singulares comes from a roughly 100-year-old plot planted with the three varieties Moravia, Bobal, and Albillo Real. This plot is located at an altitude of 1,100 meters on granite with a sandy layer, the typical rock of the Sierra de Gredos. The wine was fermented spontaneously in French foudres and aged in used barriques. It was not fined or filtered, and only minimally sulfurized. The rare Moravia produces light-coloured, fruity, and fragrant red wines. In 2016, 222 hectares of vineyards were designated, with a sharply decreasing number. Bobal is actually a variety from Valencia and its coast. It ripens late, is very resistant to drought, and produces dark, rustic wines, often blended with Monastrell. Albillo Real is a very old white grape variety. It is the typical white variety in Ribera del Duero, where it is also blended into the “Unico” from Vega Sicilia, but is also native to the region around Madrid.

Colour

Bright, slightly transparent purple

Nose

It is rather unusual that three, sometimes rare and simple, grape varieties come together to produce a wine so full of character. The wine appears dark and fragrant with notes of fermented cardamom, rock dust, cool fruit of plums and stones, as well as leather and ink.

Palate

On the palate, Vinos Singulares is above all a juicy and earthy wine. It is robust and slightly tart, yet also somehow gentle and juicy. It also has very good length, is firm and grippy, and also blessed with a very clear, fresh acidity.
