Product description for Huré Frères Invitation Extra Brut, Base 2020 NV
Wine Information
This champagne is a cuvée of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay with grapes from the Montagne de Reims (Ludes and Villedommange) and the Vitriat, namely Vavray Grand. The basis is the 2020 vintage, with, depending on the vintage, 25 to 40% of previous years from a solera. Disgorged in October 2023 with 3 grams of dosage.
Colour
Intense straw yellow with a touch of pink and fine mousse.
Nose
The fact that this champagne is called Invitation already indicates its rank within the winery. It is a calling card and is intended to illustrate what Huré stands for. The champagne offers a wealth of aromas of ripe apples, pears, yellow cherries and plums, wet chalk, a touch of yeast, and pastry. This is textbook champagne for those with higher proportions of red grapes.
Palate
On the palate, the Invitation appears charming and balanced. From the previous 5 to 6 grams of dosage, the dosage has been reduced to 3 grams, which makes the champagne seem somewhat more powerful and precise. The perlage is lively, the acidity playfully bright, the fruit juicy, and the texture fine. Aromatically, the champagne also oscillates between red, white-fleshed, and citrus fruit with rock spice, a touch of pastry, and herbs. The impressive acidity and the urgent minerality, which persists until the finish, are striking.
