Description
Product description for Huet Le Mont Moelleux 2018 (bio)
Christoph Raffelt: On the palate, the 2017 Le Mont Moelleux is already impressively complex. The 53 grams of sweetness are by no means intrusive; on the contrary, you wonder where the wine has hidden it, so clearly balanced is the sweetness by the 4.9 grams of acidity. The wine is extremely harmonious and precise. The acid structure and vital minerality are particularly captivating, as are the fine notes of Indian spices, tart oranges, and stony components. In the long finish, the honey-like sweetness, paired with salted almonds, appears in a furious, long finish. What a harmonious wine and what potential!
Wine Information
Above the estate’s tuffeau caves on the first Vouvray plateau with a south-facing exposure, lies Le Mont, one of the most prized vineyards in the appellation, known for its history and long-lasting wines.
Site Information
Nine hectares of pebbly flint soil and deep green clay ensure a unique expression of the Chenin Blanc variety. Its terroir brings out intensity and minerality, as well as a refined structure, supported by beautiful acidity.
Colour
Medium golden yellow.
Nose
The 2018 Vouvray Le Mont Moulleux is lively, powerful, and fresh with quince, pear, apple, and honeydew melon. Ripe, but not sweet, but invigorating and fragrant. A feminine and beguiling wine with depth, still youthfully closed, so pour it into the carafe.
Palate
Creamy fruit and sweetness on the opening, fine saltiness and invigorating acidity, citrusy, herbal, and dance-like. With oxygen, impressions of candied ginger, cinnamon, and subtle clove are added. You’re tempted to drink it, even finish it – but it has a long journey ahead of it. It has great potential. Be sure to decant it and enjoy it from large glasses, not too cold.

The 2018 Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux is clear, deep, pure and flinty on the intense but fine and coolish-mineral nose. Very distinctive! Lush and intense but also pure, vital and tensioned on the palate, this elegant and seductive Le Mont offers a straightforward drive and a highly complex and energetic finish with grip and great mineral tension. A gorgeous, crystalline, persistently salty and tightly woven Chenin with great complexity and energy. Very attractive already today! Tasted in May 2019.

The 2018 Moelleux Le Mont is a pretty rich wine. Apricot, orange confit, spice and mint infuse the 2018 with tons of nuance to match its viscous, textured personality. Time in the glass brings out the wine’s natural lushness. Le Mont will appeal most to readers who appreciate richer Vouvrays.
