Product description for Huet Le Mont Moelleux 2015 (bio)
Christoph Raffelt: On the palate, the 2017 Le Mont Moelleux is already impressively complex. The 53 grams of sweetness are by no means intrusive; on the contrary, you wonder where it’s hidden, so clearly balanced is the sweetness by the 4.9 grams of acidity. The wine is extremely harmonious and precise. Above all, the acid structure and vital minerality are captivating, as are the fine notes of Indian spices, tart oranges, and stony components. In the long finish, the honey-like sweetness, paired with salted almonds, appears in a furious, long finish. What a harmonious wine and what potential!

Nose
The 2015 “Le Mont Moelleux” is a mysterious, almost dark wine. This also applies to the Moelleux, which plays a little with exotic aromas of pineapple and mango, but is primarily dominated by smoky, spicy notes with a flash of flint, a scent of smoked hay, and damp walls where someone is preparing something Indian with ginger, saffron, quince, and mustard flour.
Palate
In the mouth, the 2015 Le Mont Moelleux is already impressively complex. It changes from minute to minute, yet always remains true to itself. It is Le Mont through and through, born of flint and tuff, offering apricots and mangoes, greengage, kumquats, and a hint of yellow English wine gum, but its greatness comes primarily from the extract, the fullness on the palate, and the vibrant mineral acidity that easily overcomes the amount of sweetness. The bitter notes of the citrus fruits further enhance the refreshing aspect offered by Le Mont. The balance, depth, and length are inspiring—not to mention the potential of this moelleux, which is certainly at least 40 years old, if not more.

The apricot/golden colored 2015 Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux shows a very intense, elegant and also subtle bouquet of ripe fruit intermixed with flinty aromas. Dense, piquant and concentrated on the palate, this is a great and tension-filled Chenin with grip and persistence, but also great finesse and elegance. This is a highly complex and energetic, but also light-footed and stimulating wine with lots of mouthwatering salinity. A fascinating Chenin with great aging potential.
