Product description for Huet Clos du Bourg Moelleux 1ère Trie 2020 (bio)This complex interplay of aromas in the bouquet demands a first sip. Once you’ve tasted it on your tongue, the pleasure of this wine becomes even greater. The Clos du Bourg Moelleux “Première Trie” may have the sweetest of the three “Première Trie” wines at 93 grams, but it also has the deepest minerality and the greatest depth. It’s a great wine, still developing, but already elegant and seductive, zesty in its citrus peel aromas, salty with notes of stone and a hint of botrytis, juicy in its white and yellow-fleshed, multi-layered fruit of peaches, quinces, papayas, yellow plums, oranges, and melons.
Wine Information
The Clos du Bourg lies above the church of Vouvray and comprises six hectares of vineyards surrounded by an old stone wall – hence the “Clos.” It is one of the oldest Grand Cru parcels in France. It was first mentioned in the 7th century. The vineyard’s shallow soil consists of clay with flint and chalk inclusions. It is located on a typical Turonian tuffeau limestone cliff. Here, the vines reach the tuff after just one meter. The 2020 harvest took place between September 7 (the earliest date in the winery’s history) and September 25. As the vintage was characterized by strong sunshine and warmth, the wines produced were primarily residually sweet. As usual, the grapes were meticulously sorted, pressed, and fermented spontaneously. Malolactic fermentation occurred only in exceptional cases and in individual barrels. The wine was aged in used demi-muids. The Clos du Bourg Moelleux “Première Trie” is a residually sweet wine, made from the first grapes affected by botrytis. Residual sweetness in this case means 93 g/l.

Nose
The Clos du Bourg Moelleux “Première Trie” is a wine of lush ripeness, yet precise and refined. Its aromas are of a large basket of fully ripe stone fruits, freshly sliced mirabelle plums, apricots, and peaches, candied and dried fruit, apple peel and tobacco, a touch of cooked green pineapple chutney, smoke, and rock. These are accompanied by a few kumquats and a hint of tarte tatin.
