Product description for Henri & Gilles Buisson Meursault “Les Vignes de Marguerite” AOC 2023 (bio)
Information
The Meursault “Les Vignes de Marguerite” is a tribute to Grandma Marguerite Buisson, who inherited several vineyards in Meursault as part of her dowry. These include plots in Chevalières and Luchets with 70-year-old vines at approximately 280 meters above sea level. Aging took ten to twelve months in a mix of 228-, 350-, and 500-liter barriques and tonneaux, of which no more than 10% are replaced annually. Wine globes and concrete eggs were also used. The wine was tasted daily, and the barrels were racked whenever Frédéric Buisson deemed it appropriate. It was fined with bentonite and filtered very coarsely. Sulfurization was only added during bottling, with a maximum of 40 to 50 mg/l of total sulfite.
Color
Fairly light straw yellow.
Nose
The Meursault “Les Vignes de Marguerite” offers a typical Meursault impression with pleasantly subtle, fine notes of lightly toasted hazelnuts, a touch of oak and vanilla, ripe pineapple, and lemon. Behind this, there is a small amount of salted popcorn and a pinch of gunpowder. This is harmonious, more subtle than opulent.
Palate
The fruit of the Meursault appears ripe and juicy on the palate, intense and expressive. In fact, the wine is hard to resist, as it offers not only fruit but also a taut and fresh acidity and a lively minerality, as well as a fine, perfectly matched use of wood with elegant spice, again a well-integrated nutty note and a light butteriness, a mouthwatering saltiness and a subtle pepper in the finish.

Vinous
Score: (90-92)
A blend of Les Chevalières and Luchets, the 2023 Meursault Les Vignes de Marguerite has a very controlled bouquet. It’s more backward than other cuvées, a little austere but focused. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry, more express than the aromatics, with orange rind, citrus peel and a touch of lemongrass on the finish. It has just the right amount of bitterness here.
