Product description for Heinrich Zweigelt 2019 (bio)
Info
The grapes come from the flat, humus-rich vineyards in Heideboden, the gravelly vineyards on the Parndorfer Platte, and the limestone and slate-rich slopes west of the lake.
Vinification
Hand-harvested in early September 2019, spontaneous fermentation for two weeks in a wooden fermentation rack and two weeks in a steel tank on the skins. Matured for over 3 years in a wooden fermentation rack and in used 500l oak barrels.
Colour
Intense violet-red, slightly cloudy with purple reflections.
Nose
The 2019 Zweigelt from Heinrich displays plenty of charming fruit on the nose: blackberry, dark cherry, blackcurrant, and elderberry dance the round. The fruit is complemented by a savoury spicy note reminiscent of beetroot, pepper, wood smoke, and spicy bacon. Fragrant elderflowers and a hint of peony further entice the first sip.
Palate
The juicy fruit is permeated by stimulating freshness and a fine-grained tannin structure. Slightly chilled, it immediately triggers the swallowing reflex, and it is particularly enjoyable when paired with delicious, down-to-earth cuisine.
