Information

Teroldego from the Morei vineyard (Trentino dialect for dark) in Campo Rotaliano near Mezzolombardo, grown on 2.5 hectares of alluvial floodplain. The Morei vineyard is protected from cold north winds by nearby, steep cliffs. The rock stores heat during the day, which radiates onto the vineyard at night. The soil here is very stony, and therefore relatively warm, dense, dark, and mineral, much like the wine of the same name, Morei Teroldego. The wine was aged for eight months in Spanish cellar amphorae, so-called tinajas.

Colour

Slightly transparent garnet red to crimson

Nose

Of the brothers Morei and Sgarzon, the Morei is always the darker and darker-fruited wine, as the name suggests. The 2019 vintage of the wine already appears incredibly balanced on the nose. It is reminiscent of juicy blackberries and elderberries, a few sloes, and a hint of licorice, along with mallow and undergrowth at the edge of the forest warmed by the afternoon sun.

Palate

On the palate, the wine displays the precision and tension so typical of Foradori’s amphora wines. The Morei has grip and a tinaja sandpaper texture combined with linear acidity and a blend of ripe yet crisp dark fruit, tobacco, some yeast, and undergrowth. The wine practically pulsates on the finish, so lively and minerally is it.
