Description
Product description for Foradori Granato Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2021 (bio)
Campo Rotaliano is a distinct geographical area located in an indentation of the Adige Valley between two mountain ridges. Its origins are inextricably linked to the Noce River, which has carried limestone, granite, and porphyry debris for centuries. Within Campo Rotaliano, various microzones can be distinguished by their soil composition, each given a different name by the winemakers. The name Granato refers to the pomegranate, which, like grapes, is commonly found in the Mediterranean region. This connection gives rise to the name “Granato,” which draws its particular concentration and density from the stony soils of Campo Rotaliano. Grown on approximately four hectares, spread across three vineyards, it grows on alluvial soils, gravel, and pebbles under old pergolas in Mezzolombardo. Fermented spontaneously in large, open vats, it is then aged for 15 months in tonneau barrels before aging for a further 15 months in the bottle. Annual production averages 20,000 bottles.
Colour
Dark ruby red with a dark core.
Nose
The 2021 Granato from Foradori has a generous nature: expansive with broad shoulders, it exudes aromas of pomegranate, mulberries, blackberries, and elderberries. Black cherries and dried plums fill its basket. Subtle floral notes of mallow, hibiscus, and small violets hover above the shimmering fruit notes. In its youthful stage, the impatient are recommended to serve in a decanter; the wise drinker opts for bottle aging and waits for at least five years.
Palate
With velvety regalia, it drapes itself plushly across the palate like the crimson train of a benevolent ruler, proclaiming to the discerning drinker its status as the undisputed sovereign of the grape variety. On the palate, it mirrors the aromas of the nose, oscillating between dark-fruit ecstasy and delicate understatement. It gracefully combines the extract-rich fruit with noble tannins and the aristocratic acidity that accompanies it into a majestically long finish. The Granato benefits from a minimum of five years of bottle aging until it fully reveals its potential.
