Star oenologist Ester Nin launched this project in 2003 and immediately received top marks from international wine critics. Through her work as a bodega manager and oenologist at the Clos i Terasses (Clos Erasmus) winery, she has gained extensive experience in producing world-class wines. The Mas den Caçador plot, which forms the basis for Nit de Nin, is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular and best sites in the Priorat region. But this special location also takes its toll. Working in the vineyard is only possible with mules, which is no easy task given the extremely steep slope. The Finca Planetes site is hardly inferior. Together with her husband Carles Ortiz, she cultivates both plots entirely biodynamically.

Colour

Deep garnet red, with subtle lightening towards the edges. Nose The 2019 Nit de Nin “Mas d’en Caçador” presents itself intensely and fragrantly on the nose. Aromas of black cherries, pickled dark berries, and plum jam combine with the scent of fine dark chocolate and oriental spices such as cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom. The previous skillful aging in wooden barrels is clearly evident in its youthful stage and is reflected in the form of wood smoke and vanilla.

Palate

On the palate, the sweet fruit pairs with a striking minerality and a fine-grained yet concise, still youthful tannin and acid structure. A feminine and playful wine, perfect with dishes with fruity and spicy sauces. Be sure to open at least 2 hours in advance and enjoy from a large red wine glass.
