Domaine d’Ourea is located in Vacqueyras, in the heart of the Vaucluse department in the southern Rhône Valley. The name of the 520-meter-high domaine is rooted in Greek mythology and refers to the god of the mountains. With direct views of Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail opposite, Adrien Roustan’s vineyard covers 20 hectares spread between Vacqueyras and Gigondas. The estate has been certified organic since 2012, and in 2020, it converted to biodynamic farming, which was completed with the 2023 vintage. The 2023 Tire-Bouchon from Domaine d’Ourea is marketed as a Vin de France and comes from a vineyard located on the sedimentary sandbanks of the Ouvèze stream. For this cuvée of 30% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 30% Carignan, 10% Aramon, and 10% Counoise, whole grapes were aged in barrels for six months after a short maceration period to emphasize the original, typical fruit of the Southern Rhône.

Colour

Transparent ruby red with a violet shimmer.

Nose

With rich fruit and a clear Rhône character, it exudes its southern French perfume from the glass: red fruits such as cherries, mulberries, and elderberries outline its juicy, tart fruit, underscored by the wild herbal notes of the South: sage, bay leaf, juniper, and wild thyme outline it as a clear child of its origins.

Palate

The 2023 Tire-Bouchon from Domaine d’Ourea is juicy on the palate, with a full fruity presence, channeled by delicately contouring phenolics. The red fruit is taut with aromatic, tart tannins, lending it its nonchalant character. The name says it all: pop the cork!
