Product description for Diel Goldloch Riesling Auslese Grosse Lage 2023
Wine Information
At GOLDLOCH, the grapes for juicy Rieslings grow on gravel-dominated primeval stone soils from the Permian period. The terrain, with its traditional terraces and a gradient of 45-55%, presents a particular challenge for cultivation. After gentle pressing, fermentation and storage took place in steel tanks.
Color
Radiant light golden yellow with green reflections.
Nose
An intoxicating aroma wafts from the glass, where candied lemon meets pure minerality and iced candy. The whole blends beautifully with apricot, ginger, blossoms, and honey. A sweet yet extremely elegant masterpiece is on the horizon.
Palate
On the tongue, the sweetness and acidity of the 2023 Riesling Auslese from Goldloch collide, creating a true firework display. The extremely juicy peach and pineapple fruit dance around the palate, enveloped in a salty and distinctive minerality. A fantastically refreshing sweet wine full of finesse and with a long and delicately spicy finish.

The 2023 Riesling Goldloch Auslese is deep and intense on the honeyed yet also pure and floral or grassy nose. Round, lush and sweet on the palate, this is a rich, dense and concentrated as well as savory Auslese with a long, stimulating finish. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in Burg Layen in February 2025.

Score: 95
The 2023 Riesling Dorsheimer Goldloch Auslese hails from Permian quartzite and pebble conglomerate soils. It comes with exquisite peach, a touch of honey and Seville orange marmalade. Caroline Diel notes that this vintage includes a significant portion of botrytized fruit. The clear and pure palate presents exquisite peach compote, with heightened, golden juiciness and serene freshness. This strikes a lovely and classic balance. The finish is long and lip-smacking without being too sweet, pitched at just the right level. (Sweet)
