Romain and Damien Bouchard’s Domaine de l’Enclos owns three Grand Cru and seven Premier Cru vineyards in Chablis. The Premier Cru vineyard, La Fourchaume, covers 1.27 hectares and consists of three neighboring plots with pure west-facing exposure. The vines were planted in the 1960s, 80s, and 90s and are located in the heart of the historic Fourchaume vineyard in the hills of the municipality of La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne.

Light straw yellow, radiant and clear.

Nose

The 2022 Le Fourchaume Chablis Premier Cru from Domaine de L’Enclos opens on the nose with profound floral notes of lemon and orange blossoms, chamomile tea, salty oyster shells, and wet blackboard chalk. A bit of lemon Swiss roll mingles with real anise and a touch of chervil, green apple, a touch of fennel greens, and salted popcorn complete the mix.

Palate

There’s no mercy on the first sip, but a direct hit on the palate. With uncompromising punch, the wine has a grip straight from a picture book, firm and gripping with explosive extract and the finest phenolics. The acidity directs the overall presentation, which, with its density and taut complexity, not only completely coats the mouth but practically impregnates it. Grand Cru performance at Premier Cru prices.
