Description
The Moulin aux Moines farm dates back to the 10th century and is located in Auxey-Duresses. Wines were made there from 962 for Cluny Abbey and later for Cîteaux Abbey. In fact, the Clos du Moulin aux Moines monopole site is probably one of the oldest vineyards in Burgundy. Since 2008, Willy Roulendes, the former oenologist of Domaine de Montille, and his team have been patiently working to revive the vineyard after the restoration of the building, first introducing organic and then biodynamic practices. The team is supported by the Rollin family, the owners of the estate. In addition to the 3.6 hectares of the Clos, other first-class plots were acquired in the Côte de Beaune (including the 0.8-hectare Premier Cru monopole site Clos Orgelot in Pommard), in Pernand-Vergelesses, in Saint-Romain, and in Volnay. Today, Clos du Moulin Aux Moines covers 15 hectares and is certified organic.
