The name says it all. This wine comes from the higher parcels on the gray slate soils of the Pünderich vineyards. Classic vinification by Clemens Busch, as with almost all of his wines. The harvest takes place in mid-October at 85-90° Oechsle. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in old 1000-liter wooden barrels. 10 months of barrel aging on the lees. A lean 11% alcohol by volume. In 2022, 8.1 g/l residual sugar with 6.9 g/l acidity.

Colour

Bright, pale straw yellow with green reflections.

Nose

Wonderfully clear aromas waft from the glass. Cool, rich Riesling fruit. Peach is very clearly present, from white to yellow. The stone fruit is beguiling and sits in the glass for minutes. It is accompanied by some Nashi pear and yellow apples. White blossoms, especially jasmine and orchids, lend it an incredible level of elegance and delicacy. Garden herbs subtly underline this beautiful moment. Lemon balm, lemon thyme, and a hint of chervil are very subtle.

Palate

On the palate, it reveals itself to be wonderfully balanced. The fruit, but especially its extract and the remaining residual sweetness, have a balancing and fuller effect. The fruit aroma clings directly to this framework. Then its cool, stony side sets in and stands up to the fruit. A wonderful duel on the palate. Openly carried and beautiful to observe. At the same time, it is always light-footed and delicately structured. The fruit is never intrusive and perfectly balanced.
