Wine Information

The slopes of the Pündericher Marienburg face south, southwest, or southeast, guaranteeing optimal sunshine. The soil consists largely of weathered gray slate. The vines are over 30 years old and survive even dry periods without problems. For the late harvest, highly ripe grapes are selected, either healthy or with a slight hint of botrytis. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in old Fuder barrels, and the wine is cooled at an alcohol content of approximately 7.5% vol. and removed from the lees.

Colour

Light, sparkling golden yellow with green reflections.

Nose

The 2023 Marienburg Riesling Spätlese smells of green apple, sweet citrus zest, peach, firm pineapple, white blossoms, and mango, underpinned by a distinct, cool, and subtly smoky minerality. At the very beginning of its development, it appears somewhat shy and reserved, but promises great things.

Palate

The palate is fresh and stimulating with a distinct and multifaceted sweetness. A wine full of facets and elegance, whose sweetness, combined with its fine acidity, is a perfect match. Definitely a wine that will reach its peak with longer aging; patience and forbearance will definitely pay off here.

The 2023 Pündericher Marienburg Spätlese is savory with herb and pink grapefruit peel before opening into red-cheeked white peach. The palate has all the juiciness and stone fruit ripeness framed with precise lemon zest. This is alive, energetic and downright electric. What an immense joy. (Sweet)
