Wine Information

Via Nuova was the name of a small vineyard near the center of Barolo. Its name derives from its proximity to the road (newly built in the last century) that connected Barolo to Novello. Today, all that remains of this road is a path through the vineyards, accessible on foot. For years, the wine was vinified in its pure form until the municipality of Barolo, during the reorganization of additional geographical indications (which came into force in 2010), decided to incorporate it into a larger sub-zone called Terlo. With the abolition of this small cru, Chiara Boschis, in homage to the tradition of blending, began producing Barolo Via Nuova with grapes from Terlo and Liste from the municipality of Barolo, Gabutti and Baudana from the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba, and Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi from the municipality of Monforte d’Alba. Nebbiolo with the Michet and Lampia varieties in a classic blend.

The harvest took place in early October. The entire harvest was harvested by October 12th. The wines were fermented in rotating tanks with two pump-overs per day and left on the skins for 14 days. Malolactic fermentation also took place in steel. The wine was aged for over two years in French oak barrels and barriques.

Cherry red, medium transparent.

Nose

The 2021 Barolo Via Nuova is a charming, balanced, and fine Nebbiolo with aromas of cinnamon and mandorla, ripe cherries and plums, blood orange, mint, and roses.

Palate

On the palate, this medium-bodied Barolo offers pleasant firmness and good punch. It appears floral and approachable, balanced and energetic with impressive dynamics, a lively acidity structure, and ripe, fine tannins. A great Barolo in development.
