Wine Information

Barolo Mosconi comes from the oldest plots of the vineyard of the same name in Monforte d’Alba. The soil consists of calcareous clay marls with a slightly gray hue, alternating with siliceous sandstone. In some areas, the presence of calcium carbonate and iron creates a warmer color with a slight pink tinge. These soils, located at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level, give Barolo good structure and its typical long-aging characteristics. Nebbiolo is grown here, along with the Michet and Lampia varieties.

The harvest took place in early October. The entire harvest was in by October 12. The wines were fermented in rotating tanks with two pumpovers per day and left on the skins for 14 days. Malolactic fermentation also took place in steel. The wine was aged for over two years in French oak barrels and barriques.

Color

Deep cherry red, barely transparent.

Nose

The 2021 Barolo Mosconi is not only deep and dark in color, but also aromatic. It is reminiscent of cassis, blackberries, and blueberries, of attached meat, flowers such as lavender and violets, leather, undergrowth, a touch of licorice, tobacco, and mint.

Palate

On the palate, the Mosconi appears juicy, firm, and lively with a light floral perfume, plenty of punch, depth, and power. There are also some tobacco, spice, and earthy notes in the dark finish. The wine has plenty of substance and a good grip. It is endowed with fine tannin grain, appears refined and elegant with wonderful depth and structural clarity.
