Nose

2019 Château Falfas combines a great deal of character, animal spice, and a delicately smoky note on the nose. Wild cherry, raspberry, red currant, and cassis contribute ample fruit. It appears wild, untamed, and still somewhat restless. But that certainly has its charm. A hint of horse sweat and warm leather. But that’s exactly what the shape deserves. Bergamot and lavender convey an unusual spectrum of aromas. Cinnamon plum, cinnamon zest, juniper, and black pepper impart wintry, spicy nuances that suit it very well. With patience and oxygen in the glass, it unfolds its chocolatey side, which is successfully supported by roasted coffee beans. It benefits enormously from a metallic, cool component that gives it a linear appearance.

Palate

On the first sip, it immediately confirms the expectations of the nose. Astringent and gripping. Present, yet well-integrated tannins. Subtle green nuances. A slight spiciness. Delicate with a graphite note that conveys plenty of coolness. The acidity characterizes it pleasantly. The fruit is fragmented, slightly acidic, and lingers long on the palate, especially in the finish. The hint of bergamot manifests itself again here. The animal notes are completely shed on the palate. It is balanced and relaxed. Bordeaux can also be enjoyed freely.
