Description
The Château Falfas estate is located in the Côtes de Bourg and is owned by Veronique Cochran, who purchased the estate with her husband, the American James Cochran, who died in 2012. Veronique is the daughter of one of France’s leading biodynamic consultants, François Bouchet. It was he who had recommended the purchase of the château in Bayon to the two. The 16th-century estate, which was largely abandoned at the time but is actually picture-perfect, was one of the best vineyards in Bourg for a long time – and is again today. The winery covers 20 hectares, half of which is on a terrace of clay and limestone, also known as the Switzerland of the Gironde because it is so high. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates in the vineyards, ahead of Cabernet Franc and a little Merlot. The wines are classically matured in new and used barriques.
