Les vins d’Athénaïs is the négociant line of Athénaïs de Béru. The plots for this 2022 Bourgogne Aligoté from Les vins d’Athénaïs are located in Saint-Bris at an altitude of between 210 and 250 m with an east-southeast exposure. The grapes thrive there on loamy-limestone Kimmeridge soils. They are slowly and gently pressed with a pneumatic press, and the must ferments spontaneously. Fermentation and aging take place for 12 to 18 months in Burgundy pièces.

Intense straw yellow, bright and clear.

Nose

The nose of the 2022 Bourgogne Aligoté from Les vins d’Athénaïs is a true rollercoaster: musty notes alternate with slightly smoky top notes, fully ripe stone fruit, waxy quince, a touch of light tobacco, and white pepper with its cedary-citrus notes. The general character is warm, reminiscent of pastries, more stone fruit, and a fine spice reminiscent of mace.

Palate

On the palate, the Bourgogne Aligoté from Les vins d’Athénaïs is guided by its distinctive phenolics: fine-grained with a leafy character, it initially seems a bit rough, like a cat stroked against the grain. On the palate, it has excellent grip and is stimulating despite the fully ripe fruit and rich extract. A distinctively spicy body and a stimulating, smoky-salty finish. A cool, citrusy, tart finish with lime zest in the long aftertaste.
