Wine Information

Lilium is a dry white wine from Château Climens. The 2022 vintage is the first. It is a wine made from 100% Sémillon from red clayey sand and limestone, thus from the unique terroir of Climens. The vineyard has been cultivated biodynamically according to Demeter certification since 2010. Approximately 45 hl/ha were harvested. The vines are around 15 years old and were planted at a density of 6,000 per hectare. Only the heart of the pressing was used. The wine was aged for nine months in wine globes.

Nose

The Lilium presents itself fragrantly and quite intensely on the nose. With its blend of yellow plum, quince, and green apple, along with hints of wax, mint, and white blossoms, a blind taster could easily mistake it for a Chenin Blanc from Anjou. Overall, it’s a fine, elegant bouquet.

Taste

On the palate, the Bordeaux Blanc Sec from Barzac is significantly more expressive. There’s plenty of volume, energy, and substance. The Lilium has a fine texture, offering notes of ripe apricots and peaches, with a hint of orange, quince, and yellow apple. There’s also the typical waxy, licorice-like note of Sémillon. Added to this is a clear, precise, yet soft acidity structure that successfully counteracts the volume and spiciness, impressively balancing the wine and leading it to a long finish.
