Wine Information

This wine comes from vines in the Grand Cru Clos Vougeot. After destemming, cool pre-fermentation, and spontaneous fermentation, the wine is slowly aged on the fine lees for 18 months in 228-liter barriques (primarily François Frères) with a new oak content of 75 to 100%.

Colour

Deep, almost opaque purple red.

Nose

It should come as no surprise that Clos Vougeot is one of the wines in Charlopin-Tissier’s repertoire that requires the most time. With plenty of air, it opens up in an almost beguiling way, with a combination of wild strawberries, raspberries, and sour cherries, malt, licorice, cloves, and undergrowth, foliage, and new wood of the finest provenance.

Palate

On the palate, the Clos Vougeot combines youthful impetuosity with tension and firm phenolics, ripe extract sweetness, and tart and mineral notes. It appears deep and powerful, firmly structured yet already somewhat supple, darkly aromatic, and balanced in acidity. The high proportion of new wood is noticeable, but will integrate very well. You can already sense it. A lot is already happening here – give the wine time!
