Wine Information

Miranius is named after a fox often found in the vineyards of Celler Credo. Made from the Xarel·lo grape variety, this wine comes from the high altitudes of the Alto Penedès, specifically from Plana del Penedès, Muntanyes de l’Ordal (where the vines are located at elevations of up to 400 meters), and Vall de Bitlles (a terraced river valley). After an extended maceration period, Miranius fermented spontaneously to less than one gram of residual sugar; it was not fined, filtered, and no sulphur was added.

Colour

Platinum yellow with light copper reflections

Nose

The 2021 Miranius smells of a basket of fresh mirabelle plums, apples and quinces, grapefruit, hop shoots, and a hint of honeydew melon. Added to this are tart herbal and rocky notes and a somewhat sweet yeast aroma. The fruit combines with a hint of dried hay and a spiciness that indicates a somewhat longer maceration time.

Palate

On the palate, the wine initially appears delicate, fine, and silky. Then it becomes increasingly juicy with a subtly agile, tactile acidity and plenty of salt, fine tannins, and extract. Initially shy, the Xarel·lo begins to radiate and becomes increasingly serious and expressive with air. An excellent wine at this price!
