Wine Information

This Brunello di Montalcino comes from vineyards in the southwest of Montalcino. The grapes grow at an altitude of 300 to 350 meters above sea level overlooking the sea in the Maremma. This is the hottest area of Montalcino. Here, the soil consists of sandstone and rocky marl.

Vineyard Information

After being hand-picked, the grapes are destemmed, gently pressed, and fermented with natural yeasts for two weeks. The wine then ages for 48 days in 54 hl Allier French oak barrels and for a further 12 months in the bottle.

Colour

Translucent garnet red with mahogany highlights towards the rim.

Nose

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG has an earthy aroma: aromas of malt, forest leaves, porcini mushrooms, tobacco, and tree bark fill the nose. With some oxygenation, fragrant fruit notes of raspberry, sour cherry, rosehip, and fig join in. Fresh Mediterranean herbs give it an invigorating feel, and floral notes of violet and rose petals reinforce its feminine character, which transitions into aromas of incense and licorice.

Palate

Silky and elegant, with a delicate fruit sweetness, it glides over the tongue and seems almost weightless. Its wonderful acidity contributes to each sip tempting you to take another. The higher alcohol content of 14% vol. is never noticeable, but gives it a charming sweet note that shines when combined with Italian comfort food.
