Wine Information

This wine from Boris Champy comes from a vineyard with an old sélection massale of Aligoté Doré, or Golden Aligoté. This attribute, of course, refers to the color of the berries. The plots are located in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune at over 400 meters above sea level. The soils are mixed with limestone, marl, and clay. The vines were planted very densely, with 10,000 vines per hectare, and trained using Guyot and Lyra techniques. Their grapes were the last to be harvested on September 29th – ten days after the vineyards in the Hautes Côtes. The spontaneously fermented wine was aged for twelve months, 70% in used pièces on the lees and 30% in stainless steel.

Nose

Boris Champy’s Bourgogne Aligoté Doré 2023 offers a classic, precise Aligoté aroma with acacia blossoms and honeysuckle, peaches and yellow plums, a hint of reduction, a little more vanilla and wood. It gives the impression of a ripe, juicy wine.

Palate

And that’s exactly how it presents itself on the palate. It’s a wine with successful smoothness and silkiness. A wine whose body and concentration only build on the palate to the finish. The Aligoté appears balanced, delicately spicy, and with a precise acidity that is ripe and gives this late-harvest Aligoté just the right structure.
