Description
Julia Bertram and Benny Baltes have been a couple for a long time and for years were a dream team at the Klingenberg winery (later the Benedikt Baltes winery). Now they have decided to return to their home on the Ahr and to concentrate entirely on Julia’s parental wine estate. The balancing act between Franconia and the Ahr was too much. They want to realize their vision of organic viticulture in the extremely steep slopes around Dernau. Organic practices were introduced in the first year, and the goal is biodynamic certification and permaculture, with sheep in the vineyards. The vineyard has some of the best sites on the Ahr and Benny produces very fine Pinot with depth, always balanced, never loud, but always full of expression and drinking pleasure. A new star in the Ahr.
