Description
Eric Barnert is a doctor of geology and Götz Drewitz is not only a longstanding Vinaturel employ-ee, but also a graduate geographer – it is therefore no wonder that together they have chosen sites on the Hessische Bergstrasse with the region’s typically diverse terroir, such as granite but also diorite, partly loess and drifting sand in the topsoil. The two have been cultivating 0.5 hec-tares on the Hessische Bergstrasse since 2021. Everything is done by hand and without the use of tractors or other heavy equipment. Only with a battery-powered backpack-sprayer and battery-powered scythe. The sites are steep and terraced, with old vines that are difficult to cultivate and produce low yields. As in the vineyard, there is as little intervention as possible in the cellar. The aim is to produce authentic wines with character that reflect their terroir.
