Product description for Bakkanali Bakkanali Rosa IGT 2023 (bio)
Bakkanali is the name of the new winery run by Sebastian Nasello, winemaker of Montalcino-based Podere Le Ripi, and his friend Ugo Fabbri. The pair spent a long time searching for the right terroir in which to realize their vision of creating their own wine, traveling extensively to achieve this. And then, it was more or less on their doorstep: an altitude with significant temperature fluctuations, with geologically ancient terrain, rich in limestone and quartz that transforms into slate and volcanic sand the higher you go. It is the ancient volcano Monte Amiata. The pair named their project after the Roman Bacchanalia, which often ended in wild revelry. This is how the two friends met. They produce their wines for such occasions. Their vineyards are located at 600 to 800 meters and are in the process of being converted to biodynamic viticulture.
Colour
Intense pomegranate red with violet reflections.
Nose
An unusual and profound rosé presents itself on the nose, with notes of rosehip jelly and vanilla alongside pomegranates, fresh sour cherries, and wild raspberries. Its freshness and intensity are impressive even in the aroma, arousing curiosity at the first sip.
Palate
On the palate, the 2023 Bakkanali Rosa is juicy, red-fruity, and refreshing. Acidity and tannins are ripe and present at the same time. This rosé makes a real statement with its powerful structure and depth, and it demands the accompaniment of intensive cuisine with concentrated sauces and spicy side dishes.

Vinous
Score: 91
Wickedly fresh, the 2023 Rosato Rosa opens with an air of crushed rocks and white smoke before giving way to rosemary and citrus-tinged sour cherries. This soothes with its soft and silken textures as a contrasting core of tart wild berry fruits slowly saturates. The 2023 leaves the palate clenched and aching for more as a pleasantly bitter bite of cranberry and inner rose tones resonate.
